You can use oracle cards to connect with your angels

Oracle cards are an excellent gateway tool for those who are interested in actively connecting with their angels, and also for those who want to practice using their psychic abilities. Although I seldom feel guided to use oracle cards during my readings with clients, I do have a rather large collection of them for personal use (let me know if you would like a recommendation!).

The best part about using the cards is that there is no right or wrong way to pull cards for yourself or for anyone else. Another bonus is that just about every deck includes a booklet that contains a detailed description for each card. So if you feel stuck or unsure about the meaning of the card, you can always refer to the booklet.

When you first open your new deck of cards, it is important that you clear the cards of energy that they may have absorbed prior to reaching you. The easiest way to do this is to “knock” the cards three times with your fist, as though you are knocking on a door. Next, go through the deck and observe each card, making sure to touch each one to imprint it with your energy. This will also help unstick any cards that are stuck together. You can do this ritual as often as you would like, or as you feel guided.

Before using your cards, always say a prayer over them. To do this, you can hold your hands palms down above the cards and say or think this (or your own variation):

Angels, thank you for always clearing lower energy from these cards, and for protecting and guiding my readings. Thank you for helping me to accurately receive all of your messages to better serve myself and others, and to bring blessings to all.

Now, you are ready to do your first oracle card reading.

The booklet that your cards come with will likely give you step-by-step instructions on how to use the cards, as well as different options for pulling the cards. Here’s a little secret; you don’t actually need to follow any of these instructions (unless you want to, of course). My favorite method of pulling cards is to ask my angels and guides to surround me (and the angels and guides of the person you are reading for if applicable) and simply think about the topic, or ask my question, and begin shuffling the cards.

After shuffling them a couple of times, I separate the deck into two piles, and hold one in each hand while I begin to neatly drop the pile from one hand, into the other one. It doesn’t have to be perfect and pretty. This is simply another way to shuffle the cards. While you are doing this, you may notice that some cards will “jump” out of the deck. Leave them out until you have two or three of them. If the cards don’t jump out for you, then you can randomly pick some cards out of the pile, or, fan them out and pick some cards that way. As I mentioned before, there is no right or wrong way to do this.

Once you have selected your cards, you can begin to interpret them by using your intuition, and/or by reading the card meanings in the booklet. Another fun way to mix things is up is to use more than one deck at a time.

One more important recommendation that I have is not to allow others to touch your oracle cards. I know they are colorful and awesome and your friends might want to borrow them or try using them, but if you can avoid it, it’s best to only allow them to absorb your energy. If you are in a situation where someone else has used your cards, or you are using another’s, be sure to clear them with the knocking method and to say a prayer over them.
